How should I prepare for X-rays?
There’s no special preparation needed before undergoing X-rays. However, if you receive a contrast medium, your provider offers the medium in an injection, liquid you can drink, or an enema before completing imaging. You might change into a gown if necessary and remove any jewelry and metal objects.
What should I expect during X-rays?
During onsite X-rays, you must remain still. Your provider positions your body and might ask you to hold your breath to avoid any movement. The procedure might last a few minutes, sometimes longer for more involved diagnostic testing. Afterward, your provider discusses the results with you and determines if you need treatment. If so, they discuss your options.
What happens after X-rays?
There’s no downtime needed after X-rays, so you can get back to work or resume other daily activities immediately. If you’ve received a contrast medium, it’s important to drink a lot of water to help your body flush out the dye. Call the Care10 Urgent Care office at any time with questions.
